Thunder makes music to my ears,
as lightning soothes away all my fears;
while others may be filled with dread,
i’ll stand outside and let the rain, kiss my forehead.
Flashing of lights can be seen off in the distance,
promising me, a fantastic evening show;
oh how I love a goodnight storm,
and when the cool Louisiana winds start to blow.
I can smell the refreshing water in the air,
as the temperature begins to drop;
the frogs are singing without a care,
reinvigorate this land and please don’t stop.
A restful sleep is what I’m hoping,
so brew your storm and tease my brain;
I’ll gladly receive you with arms wide open,
It may be chaos, but I find peace within the rain.
Rain pours down,
and the storm gives chase,
I close my eyes and then,
I drift off into my happy place;
The worse it gets, the better I feel,
there’s no need, on me to be checked;
I’m bursting with joy, the energy is real,
I’m from Louisiana, what did you expect?
The thunder is like a lullaby,
the lightning eases my pain;
nothing like a beautiful southern sky,
nothing matches a Louisiana Rain.
