Here’s to hoping, you never come back down,
it was never quite the same, when you were around;
there’s a cold lonely light, that shines from you,
that always had me tied up in knots and singing the blues.
Confusing emotions of love, that made me stay,
i’m much better off, as you just fade away;
only time would show, where I really stand,
that I was holding onto happiness, that I never truly had.
The threats you made, were meant to cut me down,
should I apologize for living, and still hanging around?;
guess you thought without you, I could never win,
but take a look now, and see me coming back again.
My heart is glad, full of joy and not in need of mending,
I was never truly looking with you, for that fairy tale ending;
rainbows and unicorns may be the sweet dreams you erode,
but I finally got sick of that miserable, Yellow Brick Road.
Our love was an imposter, a fake, a thief in the night,
a perpetuated lie, that no longer burns so bright;
I longed for a connection that is strong, as it is true,
only to find a mess, behind that mask you use.
Back to the reality, back to the game but no longer a pawn,
back to my passion, because my heart marches on;
back to my roots, back to where my positive energy flowed,
my future awaits me, just beyond that Yellow Brick Road.
